Rosa Bell’s Tale (The Great Depression in Jackson Parish) was written and illustrated by fourth Grade students of Weston High School in Weston, La. in Jackson Parish. Rosa Bell Rabbit sees her uncle in a rabbit soup line and realizes that times are bad. How do the rabbits in Jackson Parish pull together to help friends and family that are less fortunate? These students interviewed elders who lived in Jackson Parish during The Great Depression. They recorded the events as described by their elders, and wrote this book for young readers to learn and understand the events that occurred during this era of history.
